As an eyelash artist, you will know that not all eyelashes are the same, and that goes for lash extensions, too. Being able to create a look for your clients that will enhance certain natural features to create a striking appearance is a skill in itself. So understanding that lash extensions come in all different curls, thicknesses, and lengths is crucial if you want to elevate your artistry.
Lash trays are there to help you with the application of lashes by simplifying the process and keeping well-arranged lash lines and their specifications in an orderly and easy-to-see fashion, so they are convenient to select and simple to customise and to be able to choose the right type of look your client is after. Lash trays keep extensions free from dust and debris, ensuring they remain hygienic and in good condition when you need to use them. Trays are also compact and conveniently easy to store, and there are many different types of lash trays available depending on the varieties of lash extensions they contain. However, as there are 4 basic types of lash extensions, you should consider keeping trays for each.
Classic Lash Trays
As suggested by the name, these trays contain the classic, or individual lashes that are applied using the 1:1 technique, where one eyelash extension is applied to one natural lash. Individual lashes are available in different lengths, thicknesses and curls to suit each individual client, and are usually displayed in trays in straight lines, with each single lash line differing in length and curl size. Curls can vary, and C and D curls are usually the most popular, whilst length sizes can vary from anywhere between 6-17mm. It is always good to have a wide selection to suit everybody's varying styles.
Loose Fan Trays
Loose fan extensions, which are sometimes called volume fans, premade fans or promade fans, are clusters of multiple lashes that are fanned out and bonded together at the base and applied to a single, natural lash to create volume. Loose fans are not attached to a strip and therefore require separating from the bunch before application. Loose fan trays can contain the most quantity of lash extensions, with a medium size usually containing 500 loose fans. Because of the huge capacity they offer, they are a popular choice, although technicians new to the eyelash industry may find it difficult to pick up a single fan from the messy pile.
Premade Fan Trays
Premade lashes are, for all intents and purposes, still handmade fans; they are just made by someone else instead of you, saving you time so you can simply concentrate on applying beautiful lashes. The key difference between loose fan tray and premade fan trays is the way the fans are packaged and applied. Premade fan trays have their fans pre-arranged on a strip or band (usually a silicon pad or other surface) so they are easy to grab and streamline the application process.
Coloured Lash Trays
These trays, as their name suggests, contain an array of coloured lash extensions, so you can add a playful plop of colour to your eyelash artistry. Having trays that offer a variety of mixed lengths, curls, and colours is a favourite among lash artists who dare to be different. Having a mixture of various colours, lengths, and curls allows for complete customisation to suit your client's preferences, and you can create anything from subtle looks to bold statements!
